General meeting and club afternoon 2010.....

Sunday March 28th…. the yearly general meeting and a great afternoong activity.

It is always nice to see friends, relatives and less farmilliar people.
Frans and I were well accomanied by three of our four kids to have a great day in Kerkwijk. We stood up a hour earlier because the time had been set to summertime, let out the dogs and start driving!.

We were nice on time and it had made it possible for us to let our dogs take a nice run along the fields of Dogcenter. Slowly the members dropped in with their dogs, but what was that??.... only 15 people showed up… come on members, this could be better!!

Under a pleasant cup of coffee and a slice of cake we talked throughout the meeting. There were not many disturbing thing to report, although.. our number of members is slowly dropping and that is not such good news ofcourse. There was also a moment of discussion about the theme "The character of the Thai" and how to cope with it and how to enlarge the number of members together so the possibility of stopping the club can be subscribed from the list and the the future Thai dogs are not at risk. If anybody has an idea, write, mai, fax, call or use smoke messages to inform the club. somthing has to be done to safe the club and the breed! We hate the idea that we soon have to talk in the past about the TRCN…… like do you remember when we used to have these great hikes and shows with the TRCN?, that was always great fun wasn't it? It is very unfortunable that they do not existe anymore...…so think with us people, think..!

After the general meeting and a great lunch with an egg and a "kroket" (dutch snack) with it (man it has been ages that I have eaten this snack) There was a reading by Desiré Keun about feeding raw food to the dogs in stead of the general plain dog food.

It was quite interesting I must say and there will be a curtain thruth in it, but personally for me it is too difficult to make it work in my household. I must say that is also a bit lasyness from my side though! But it was all pretty interesting to hear and many compliments to the well prepared reading.

After the reading it was time to do ‘doggydance”…
again put together and instruated by Desiré.

Thai dans

I had to hold my hart tight with our young female Fai, because she loves teasing the boss and only doing her own thing is best thing to spend her time with. But she supprised me, it all went pretty well. I have never done any training with Fai (nor my other dogs), but I must say she learned quite well. Kiyo our other Thai will do anything for a nice treat and is that means that she has to walk besides me, she'll do that, making circles, and walking between my legs same thing! I do not mean this negative, but I am just writing this from Kiyo's point of vieuw and I think Kiyo thinks the same way.…

Then came the part where Fai let me stunned..… agility, again supported by Desiré.

Knowing Fai she is a dog that first observes everything before getting started with anything, she can even get quite stressing and it takes a few minutes for her to get adjusted to a surtain situation. You can see that when she litterly shakes off the stress. After that she think of making a lot of nonsens through the workout or situation she's in (ohh what a lovely animal).Than after some nice confincing words, treats she went through the tunnel with quite some confidence, jumped the fences as a fully learned jumping horse and also the other agility setups where no problem for her, she did it even loose from the leash!! I was stunned every minute we were in the course, mij brave little girl!! Of course not everything went as well as we would like it to be, but this mammy was very proud of her little girl!!

Kiyo had to stay a side because of her bad hips so she had time to sleep in the car.

Yep.. than it was time and before we knew the day was over... unfortunately.

We had a drink together en chatted about the day our dogs etc etc and were home round 19:00 o'clock to let out the dogs one more time for that day, feed them and believe me that my little ones went to bed without making any scene.

Again it was a great thing with the TRCN, we had many things to chat about, exchange our experiences etc.etc. We hope that with a next Thaiday of hike there will be more thai lovers to come together to make it even more pleasant than it already is!!

Greetings Frans & Cathelijne and al our animals
